STEPHANOTIS
FLORIBUNDA
Bridal Bouquet
Stephanotis
is a vine that eventually will require a trellis to grow. In the beginning
something as simple as a stake can be used for support.
They
perform well in full sun or bright shade. Outside is always better, but
you will have to protect the plant when the temperature dips near freezing.
They should be grown in pots in not so tropical climates since they don't
like freezing temperatures very much, even though they can tolerate a little.
They grow fine indoors also as long as there is enough light available.
It requires average water, a little drier in the winter.
The plant blooms heavy in the spring, but also produce some flowers during
the warmer months. Normally it has to be a little old and root bound to
start flowering. Once it does, the result is very rewarding. The flowers
are long lasting and sweetly scented. They are a favorite in weddings, used
in bridal bouquets, corsages and decorations.
Why you need to have one:
It is a controllable vine that can be grown indoors
if necessary and produces beautiful, fragrant flowers.
